About Us

The Cute Lady

Emailed Vintage Patterns was started in 2004 by a person we know and love as "The Cute Lady".  The 5th of six children, she seems to have been "a collector of cute" since childhood, and her love of sewing came very soon after that.  In high school she started making her own clothes, often hurriedly sewing things together the night before, wearing unhemmed pieces that still had the pins in them!  But as she grew in patience (and years - eek!) she learned the joys of hand-sewing and the wonders of a site called Ebay.

The Collection Begins

Could it be that there was a place to find all the vintage patterns, dolls, and rare books you could dream of?  There was, and Ebay was it!  She was soon buying patterns from her high school days, babydolls from her elementary school days, and even finding new treasures to love.  And then she started to think, "Some of these patterns are kind of expensive.  Plus I have to do all that waiting until the pattern comes in the mail!  If only there were an easier way. . ."  Emailed Vintage Patterns was born.

The Company

Emailed Vintage Patterns started as an Ebay business, that grew to Etsy, that grew to CDs, that grew to this website!  It is family owned, and actually 99% of the work is still down by The Cute Lady herself.  She gets help from her kids and her husband every once in a while, mostly when the boxes of newly arrived goodies are too big for her to carry, but for the most part it is a single-handed operation.

The Mission

The Cute Lady has made it her duty to carefully retouch and maintain a huge collection of vintage patterns and books (which are housed in the very cluttered "Hobbit Office" - an extra bedroom in one corner of the house) which she spends hours scanning, colorizing and meticulously creating into the products you see on this site.

The Love

Here at Emailed Vintage Patterns, we have taken something that we truly love and made it into something we can do every day of the week!  We consider ourselves very blessed, and hope to be able to continue bringing you classic patterns and booklets from the past for years to come!
